Udupi: The supporters and workers of the district Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on May 19, celebrated the party’s win in Assam with great enthusiasm and zeal.
Party leaders and workers gathered in front of the district BJP office at Kadiyali here and shouted pro Modi slogans, burnt firecrackers and distributed sweets.
Speaking to mediapersons, Thingale Vikramarjuna Heggde, president of District BJP, said, “We are happy because the people of Assam have elected a BJP government in the state. The BJP’s victory in Assam is a gift to the party and Prime Minister on completion of two years of NDA government at the centre. At the same time, the BJP opened its account first time in Kerala; this shows that the people of Kerala kept faith in Narendra Modi government. Assembly results clearly show that people of India are rejecting the Congress party and the leadership of Rahul Gandhi.” The same result will be replicated in the upcoming election of Karnataka in 2018, he added.
BJP leaders Githanjali Suvarna, Sandhya Ramesh, Kuthyaru Naveen Shetty, Ranjith Salian, Yaspal Suvarna, Ravi Ameen, Shyam Prasad Kudwa, Katapadi Shanker Poojary and others were present.
