District Celebrates Kannada Rajyotsava with Grandeur of Cultural Extravaganza
Udupi: The Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations marked the grandeur of cultural extravaganza in Open air Stadium Beedinagudde here, on November 1.
Pramod Madhwaraj, district minister in-charge and state fisheries, sports and Youth service minister, hoisted the falg and received the guard of honor.
Addressing the gathering, Pramod Madhwaraj said that the Siddaramaiah-led state government has initiated a number of programmes for the all round development of the district.
State government’s most ambitious Anna Bhagya project is virtually turning into reality. The benefits of food security assured to all below poverty line reaches even to the last man in the society. Around 7.55 lakh families in the district have benefited from the programme. Having extended the validity of caste and income certificates, the Revenue department has initiated the service delivery system a step further by introducing the “over the counter” concept.
The newly introduced Bapuji Seva Kendras at the gram panchayat level would be a blessing for the layman to avail various benefits of the government schemes, designated under the Revenue and Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Departments. The Bapuji Seva Kendras would offer 48 services under the Revenue department, while 43 services would be offered by the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj department, he added.
Referring to the effective implementation of social security schemes in the district, Madhwaraj said that 1,21,276 beneficiaries have profited from the various schemes in the district. To promote sports the government has sanctioned sports academy in Udupi district. A Lawn tennis court with modern facilities will be constructed at a cost of Rs 3.50 crore. Rajya Sabha member Oscar Fernandes has provided Rs One crore from the MP’s Local Area Development Fund for the court, he added.
The district Rajyotsava Award was presented to 30 achievers. Earlier, a procession of Bhuvaneshwari was flagged off by Pramod Madhwaraj at the MGM Ground Kadiyali.
ZP president Dinakar Babu, TP President Nalini Pradeep Rao, CMC President Meenakshi Madhava, Deputy Commissioner Venkatesh, Superintendent of Police K T Balakrishna, ZP CEO Priyanka Mary Francis, ADC Anuradha and others were present.
