District JD(S) Stages Protest against Union and State Government

Mangaluru: The DK District Janata Dal staged a protest against the Union government for the hike in prices of basic commodities and the failure of the State government, in front of the DC office here on March 9.

Addressing the protesters district JD(S) president Mohammed Kunhi said, “When the UPA government was in power and the gas price was Rs 350 to 400 the BJP members staged a protest and demonstrated cooking with firewood and shouting slogans against the UPA government and said that the Gas price has been drastically hiked. But now when the BJP government led by prime minister Modi has increased the gas price up to Rs 750 the same BJP members who had staged the protest against the UPA government have maintained silence”.

He further said, “The state government has failed to govern the state. In the coming days, the Congress government will not win the elections. We want Kumaraswamy to be our chief minister.”

District JD(S) Youth president Akshith Suvarna said, “Before coming to power, Modi had assured to bring Acche din, but now it has turned to be Bure din (bad days). Modi had also assured to create employment, but day by day unemployment is increasing and the youth are not getting jobs after completing their education. In the international market the oil price has drastically decreased but in India, the diesel, petrol, and gas prices have drastically increased. The gas price has been doubled within three years of the BJP rule in the centre which has put the poor and the middle-class people in problems. The price is unaffordable to many families, the increase of Rs 86 per cylinder is a shock to the people of this country. If the gas price will not be reduced, we will intensify our protest in the coming days,” he warned.

Akshith further said, “In the state, most of the ministers are involved in various scams. In the diary issue, both the parties are blaming each other. Even on February 25, the RSS and Sangh Parivar called for the bandh in Dakshina Kannada but the state government was unable to stop the RSS leaders from observing the bandh. We doubt whether the state is ruled by the RSS or Congress? questioned Akshith.

Hyder Parthipady and others were also present.
