District-level weightlifting competition inaugurated in City
Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada Weightlifters Association in association with the DK Association of Body Builders jointly organised the District-level weightlifting competition, at Don Bosco Hall, here on December 13.
The District-level weightlifting competition was inaugurated by the deputy director of Youth Welfare and Sports department Pradeep D’Souza by lighting the traditional lamp along with other dignitaries.
Addressing the gathering Pradeep D’Souza said, “I am pleased to be here to inaugurate the district-level weightlifting competition. From my childhood, I was interested in Volleyball and football but after becoming the DD I cannot neglect other sports. Sports should be encouraged, I always encourage sportspersons. First of all, we need to bring all the sports persons together by forgetting our differences. For the sake of encouraging sportspersons, we all need to join hands and hold sports activities. If sports meets are held consistently we can bring out many talents in sports”. He congratulated the organisers and also wished the participants all the best in the competitions.
Association members M Nagesh Kumar, Ashok Shetty, B Kamalaksha Amin, John Rebello, Francis D’Souza, Arthur D’Souza, Premnath Ullal, Sundar Rajan and others were also present.
