District Nodal Officer Clarifies on Confusion in 26-year-old Woman’s COVID Test Report
Udupi: The district COVID nodal officer, Dr Prashanth Bhat on August 22, issued a clarification on the COVID Test Report of a 26-year-old woman who had died on August 21, 2020.
The test sample was checked for the ID, and as per the Lab protocol, the SRF details were fetched from the RT-PCR Application, the requested RT-PCR test was conducted in the Lab and the result with the “Test date” entered in the Lab module of the ICMR Portal.
It may be noted that the “Date of sample collection” along with the details of the patient was captured in the RT-PCR App (A mobile-based Application of ICMR) during sample collection itself, which will be automatically imported to Lab Module when the details are fetched using the SRF ID.
The dates entered in the Lab Module are “Date of sample Receipt in Lab” and “Date of Sample Tested”. There is NO scope for entering Date of Sample Collection in the Lab Module of ICMR Portal. On enquiry, it was found that the sample was collected in the District Hospital Mortuary on August 21, 2020, and the details were correctly entered in the RT-PCR App. But while this data was fetched in the Laboratory using Lab Module of ICMR Portal, the Date of Collection was wrongly imported as August 20, 2020.
Hence, we clarify that the wrong date (August 20 2020) of sample collection appeared in the Result Document is due to ICMR portal Technical Error and NOTHING to do with the District Hospital Laboratory. We also refuse all allegations against the District Hospital and the Laboratory of falsifying the test report, he stated.
The 26-year-old woman from Indiranagar had died in a private hospital on August 21, and the family members have alleged that it has happened because of the negligence of the doctor. The family members protested in front of the mortuary on August 22 morning and demanded action against the doctors.
