District Police crack Santosh Nayak murder case, arrest eight
Five of the accused have been nabbed in the Praveen Kulal murder case. The prime accused in Praveen Kulal murder case Santosh Poojary is facing charges in Hindalga jail. The other accused are Santosh alias Puttige Santhu resident of Hiriyadka, Santosh Madiwala alias Mambettu Santhu resident of Ontibettu, Lathish Poojary of Palimaru and Sujith Pinto of Santekatte.
Praveen Kulal is said to have plotted the murder of Santosh Poojary. Santosh Poojary who came to know about the plot of his murder had then got Praveen Kulal murdered. Santosh Poojary had plotted the murder in Hindalga Jail and the other accused had murdered Praveen Kulal on the direction of Santosh Poojary. Sujith Pinto the accused had financed the accused for killing Santosh Poojary with Rs 1.5 lakh.
The second accused Santosh Madiwala had invited Praveen Kulal to the Diya Bar. Santosh Madiwala along with Praveen Kulal from Diya Bar had contacted the other two accused and asked them to come there. The accused Santosh Ram and Latesh Poojary came with machetes to the Diya bar and attacked Praveen who managed to escape for a while. The accused then chased and assaulted Praveen killing him on the spot.
The police have seized 2 machetes, 1 motorbike, Ritz car, Rs 1,26,000 cash and other evidence.
During the course of the investigation, the police learnt that Praveen Kulal had offered a share in the money collected from Santosh Nayak who owed money to Nithyanad Nayak, Jayanth Pai and Wilfred Arthur.
Praveen Kulal who mastered the plan of recovering the dues from Santosh Nayak kidnapped him from his house. He was later taken to an isolated area where he was tortured in front of Nithyanad Nayak, Jayanth Pai and Wilfred Arthur. Santosh breathed his last there due to severe torture from Praveen Kulal and his associates. Praveen Kulal together with his associates Dayananda, Prasad, Rajesh and Dilip searched Santosh’s residence for money and also forcibly took Santosh Nayak’s wife Sumitra along with the children, mother Rathnawati Nayak, Vidhyadhar, Shobha and then after forcibly taking the gold ornaments from them dropped them back to Sannakki and fled. The body of Santosh Nayak was put in a gunny bag and the bag was dumped in a well in an isolated area with his associates Praveen Kulal, Dayanand, Prasad, Krishna, Mahesh and Ramesh. Police have recovered the car in relation to the case.
The accused in Santosh Nayak murder case are Yarlapadi Prasad (23), Dayanand (37) resident of Mangaluru, Wilfred Arthur (40), Jayanth Pai (55) of Udupi, Krishna(33) resident of Pernankila, Mahesh Achari (23) resident of Marne, Ramesh (35) resident of Pernankila, Prakash Kulal (29).
The accused were presented before the court and the investigation is on.
The investigation was held under the leadership of SP K T Balakrishna, ASP Vishnuvardhan, DySP Kumaraswamy, DCIB Inspector Sampath Kumar, Bramhavar CPI Srikanth, Hiriyadka PSI Vinayak Billava, DCIB ASI Rosario D’Souza and others.
The accused are arrested on the charges under IPC 120(B) punishment for criminal conspiracy, IPC 109 punishment for abetment, IPC 302 punishment for murder, IPC 34, IPC 201 for destroying of evidence.
