District Youth Congress Stages protest against Union Govt Demanding Waiver of Farmers Loan

Mangaluru: The Youth Congress, Mangaluru South Assembly staged a protest against the Union Government demanding waiver of farmers loan in front of the DC office here on July 6.

Addressing the protesters District Youth Congress president Mithun Rai said, “Today the Youth Congress members are protesting all over the district in front of the Nationalised banks. Narendra Modi before coming to power, in his election manifesto had made various promises. But after winning the elections he has forgotten the farmers who are the backbone of our country. Narendra Modi is acting like a puppet of the corporate world. The Central government has assured 50% support price for the farmers produce, he also said that if the state government waives the farmers loan the central government will follow”.

Mithun Rai further said, “MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said that if the state government will waive the loan the union government will waive it. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, the state government has waived the loans of farmers. The state government has waived the loan of 22,22,506 farmers. But the Union government has launched the GST and put the farmers in more trouble. PM Modi is not interested in listening to the grievances of the farmers. We will continue our protest against the BJP government for cheating the farmers and we will not rest until we make this country free of the BJP”.

Addressing the protesters Block president Salim said, “Our Congress youth have gathered here to protest against the Union government demanding a waiver of the farmers loan. I would like to congratulate Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for waiving the farmers loan. Now that the state government has waived the farmers loan likewise the Union government should also waive their loan. In the coming days, we all should unitedly protest against the Union government if the loan of the farmers is not waived.”

The protesters shouted slogans against Union government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Youth Congress leaders Praveen Chandra Alva, Suhail Kandak, President of Mangaluru South Assembly Constituency Merrill Rego and others were also present.
