Diwali Celebration at St Aloysius Industrial Training Institute
Mangaluru : Diwali was celebrated with great enthusiasm in St .Aloysius ITI on 31st October 2019. Diwali, also known as Deepavali which means festival of lights is celebrated across India with great joy as it symbolizes the victory of good over evil based on “Ramayana” the ancient Indian story.On this occasion a rangoli competition was arranged for the students in which students participated enthusiastically and exhibited their creativity. The judges for the competition were Alwyn Menezes, Smt. Diana Fernandes and Mr. John Barboza.
The formal programme commenced with a meditative prayer conducted by Wilson N, Junior Training Officer, MRAC trade. Kiran D’Souza,Junior training Officer extended cordial welcome to the gathering. The programme was presided over by Rev. Fr Cyril D’mello SJ, Director of the institution. The other dignitaries on the dais were Alwyn Menezes,Vice Principal; Noel Lobo, Training Officer. Manjunatha Rao,Junior Training Officer- Electrician Trade delivered a speech on the history and importance of Deepavali celebration.
In his presidential address, Rev Fr. Cyril D’mello SJ, Director of the institution addressing said “the festival signifies the victory of light over darkness or good over evil. Evil is within us, our bad behaviour creates evil in ourselves and the surrounding society. Hence we have to try to remove evil in our lives, then the festival Deepavali means its right way. Deepavali means lighting a lamp, we have to lighten not only ours lives but also lighten others life too. He wished everyone a Happy Deepavali and congratulated all the participants of the Rangoli competition for their hard work and creativity.”
A beautiful song on “Deepavali” was presented by the students wishing everyone a happy festival. Robin Vas, Junior training Officer-MMV trade announced the winners of the Rangoli competition. The first prize was given to MRAC-II, Second prize- MD and third prize-Electrician II and conciliation prizes were given to all the participants.
Smt. Dorin Snehaprabha, convenor of the programme proposed vote of thanks. Mallaya, student of Electrician trade was M.C of the programme. The programme was concluded by National Anthem and sweets were distributed to everyone .
