Mangaluru: District minister in-charge, B Ramanath Rai inaugurated the ‘Mangaluru Udyoga Mela’ office and launched its website at the DC office premises here, on October 16.
Later, addressing the mediapersons, Ramanath Rai said, “In DK district, the people are well educated but many youth who have completed their education are unable to find jobs. In this regard, the district administration has decided to hold a job fair (UdyogaMela) from November 19. The job fair will be held for two days at the Canara Engineering College, Benjana Padav. The Udyoga Mela will help job aspirants to select jobs according to their qualification.
Rai further said that on October 26, a meeting will be held in Bengaluru with the CEOs of various companies and on October 27, the minister will hold talks with the CEOs of various companies in Dubai. In the Mangaluru Udyoga Mela, more than 300 companies will take active part and select suitable candidates.
A website has also been launched where job aspirants can register their names. A employment enhancement centre will be opened at the Udyoga Mela to help job aspirants in selecting the job. There are no entry fees, Taluk-level centers will be opened to prepare job aspirants to face interviews.
To bring the youth in to the main stream, the district administration will organize the Udyoga Mela in a very large scale. The Mangaluru Udyoga Mela will be held under the slogan of “Namma Kaiyalli, Namma Udyoga”.
Deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim said that the job aspirants will be trained to face interviews. “We are not assuring particular jobs to the candidates. The selection is based on the ability and qualification of the candidates,” he added.
SP Dr Sharanappa said that most of our youth are educated but some youth have indulged in various crimes. The Udyoga Mela is being held for the skilled and unskilled youth. All the candidates will not get same salary. The Udyoga Mela is not limited only to Mangaloreans, youth from other districts can also take part. Jobs will be provided based on the calibre of the candidates.
