DK District Legal Forum to Create Awareness on Equal Justice and Free Legal Aid

Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada Legal Forum is all set to create awareness of equal justice and free legal aid to the poor and needy people in the district.  Many people have not aware of the constitutional rights and the forum will create awareness among the people regarding free legal aid.  Workshops, symposiums and seminars will be conducted by eminent jurist and experts on legal issues”, said the president of the DK District Legal Forum S P Chengappa during a press meet held at Hotel Woodlands here on March 9.

Addressing the mediapersons S P Chengappa said, “The forum will work towards making the judicial system accessible to the poor, downtrodden and underprivileged. To educate the poor children, school-going children and college students about various laws and the legal system. The forum will also work for the legal rights of the HIV patients, physically challenged, transgenders, women and children. Various seminars will be conducted to create awareness among the general public about the constitution, fundamental rights, duties and pro-people policies of the government.”

Chengappa further said, “To create legal awareness among children, women, labourers, agriculturists on various laws enacted to fight against evils of the society, to fight against corruption, misgovernance, maladministration and anti-people policies of the government. Various programmes will be conducted to bring awareness about drug addiction and to conduct de-addiction camps and arrange rehabilitation centres. To disseminate useful knowledge for education or public opinion by publishing books and other literature or assisting to publish literature or assisting literary societies and thus conducive to the welfare of the nation.”

Chengappa also said, “The governing body of the forum shall be the body constituted under the rules and regulations of the said forum”.
