DK Mahila Congress lights 100 Diyas on Indira Gandhi’s 33rd death Anniversary
Mangaluru: To observe the 33rd death anniversary of the former Prime Minister of our country Indira Gandhi, members of the DK Mahila Congress lit 100 Diyas in front of the DCC office Mallikatta here on October 31.
More than Hundred women from Dakshina Kannada Mahila Congress lit the diyas and held it in their hands to pay respect to the great soul of Indira Gandhi.
Speaking to mangalorean.com, DK Mahila Congress President Shalet Pinto said, “Today we have observed the 33rd death anniversary of Indira Gandhi and her birth anniversary is on November 19. Today we have lighted 100 diyas to the great soul of late Indira Gandhi. She was a great leader and inspiration for all the women.”
Shalet further said, “Today we have also submitted a memorandum to the DC in regard to the reservation for women. Indira Gandhi did not come to power based on reservation, with her own capacity, she became the prime minister of this great country. Today we all the women have offered tribute to the great soul of late Indira Gandhi by lighting 100 diyas”.
Corporators Appi, Sabitha Misquith, Nagaveni, Prathibha Kulai, Jacintha Alfred, Asha D’Silva, Rathikala and others were also present.
