DK Records Highest Single-Day Spike of 183 Coronavirus Cases
Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district has recorded the highest single-day spike of 183 positive coronavirus cases, on July 8. From the past one week, the number of positive cases in the district has rapidly increased.
On July 4, the number of positive cases in the district was 1095 and 22 deaths. On July 5, the number of positive cases reached 1242. On July 6, two persons died of COVID-19, and on July 7 also two persons died of COVID-19.
On July 8, morning, three persons including a 57-year-old woman from Ullal, a 32-year-old woman from Puttur, who had recently delivered a baby and a 62-year-old man from Bhatkal died of COVID-19.
Out of the 183 positive cases, 65 persons had contracted the disease from primary and secondary contacts. Five persons had returned from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Muscat. Two persons had travelled from Maharastra. Twenty-five persons are suffering from influenza-like illness (ILI), and four persons are suffering from Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI). The health officials are tracing the contacts of fifty-four others.
The other 22 persons had tested positive during random testing, and five persons had tested positive during the pre-surgery test.
All the 183 persons have been shifted to the designated COVID hospital for further treatment.
Meanwhile, twelve persons were also discharged from the hospital after complete recovery.
