DK Records Highest Single-day Spike of 238 Coronavirus Cases and 6 Deaths on July 16
Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada district has recorded the highest single-day spike of 238 positive coronavirus cases and six deaths on July 16.
From the last fifteen days, the number of positive cases in the district has rapidly increased.
Out of the 238 positive cases, twenty-three persons had contracted the disease from primary contacts. Nineteen persons had returned from the Gulf. 106 persons are suffering from influenza-like illness (ILI), and seventeen persons are suffering from Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI). The health officials are tracing the contacts of seventy-three others.
All the 238 persons have been shifted to the designated COVID hospital for further treatment.
Out of 6 COVID-19 deaths, a 44-year-old male from Mulki was also suffering from Acute kidney disease and admitted to the ICU where he breathed his last without responding to the treatment. Another 68-year-old man from Ramadurga, Belgaum was admitted to the COVID hospital in Mangaluru with diabetes mellitus/hyperkalemia.
Another 62-year-old man from Mangaluru was admitted to the hospital with chronic liver disease/HT and was tested positive for coronavirus. He too died without responding to the treatment. A 66-year-old male from Mangaluru was admitted to the hospital with Acute kidney disease/diabetes/HB. He was tested positive for the coronavirus, and he was shifted to the Intensive care unit where he breathed his last on July 16.
A 47-year-old woman from Bantwal was admitted to the hospital with HT/Diabetes/CKD. She was tested positive for the coronavirus and breathed her last on July 16. Another 76-year-old woman from Mangaluru was admitted to the hospital with Severe Acute Respiratory Infection and Sepsis multi-organ disfunction. She was tested positive for coronavirus and breathed her last on July 16.
Meanwhile, seventy-four persons were also discharged from the hospital after complete recovery.
