DK & Udupi Muslim Committee to Hold Protest on Jan 4 against NRC and CAB

Mangaluru: “Various organizations all over the country are holding protests against the implementation of NRC and CAB. The Muslim Central Committee of DK and Udupi will also hold a protest on January 4”, said the Muslim Central Committee President K S Mohammed Masood in a press meet held at Hotel Ocean Pearl here on December 22.

Addressing the mediapersons Masood said, “We had decided to hold a protest on December 28 but since the Christian community is celebrating Christmas we postponed our protest to January 4. On December 19, people had gathered in front of the DC office to protest against CAB and NRC but the police resorted to lathi-charge”.

Masood further said, “After the lathi-charge two persons were killed in the police firing. We demand nothing less than a judicial investigation in this case to know the truth. Action should be taken against those who fired at people and were responsible for the death of Jalil and Nausheen.”

Masood also said, “Through the implementation of CAB, many will face problems. Those who served for 30 years in the Indian Army and fought the Kargil war have been kept out of the NRC list. Many who do not have proper documents including the tribals are facing problems. The Muslim Central committee will oppose this bill. In Mangaluru two people lost their lives in the police firing and many others have been admitted to the hospital with grievous injuries. Medical expenses of those who are admitted to the hospital should be borne by the government”.

Former MLA Moideen Bava, President of Wakf Board S M Rasheed, Shamshuddin, Ibrahim Kodijal, Mamtaz Ali, Hanif Haji, Rafiuddin Kudroli, Athavulla Jokatte, Razik and Imthiyaz were also present.
