DKWJU stages protest Condemning Journalist Gauri Lankesh murder
Mangaluru: The District Working Journalists Union staged a protest, condemning the brutal murder of Senior Journalist Gauri Lankesh in front of the DC office here on September 6.
Addressing the protesters journalist Taranath Gatti said, “India has its culture and tradition likewise there are people who have different thoughts and opinions. We need all kind of people for the development of the country. When a person is killed hies/her thoughts will not die. We strongly condemn the murder of Gauri Lankesh.”
Journalist Irshad said, “Gauri Lankesh was a thinker and she was a role model for many young journalists. Her murder has created fear among the journalists. The accused in Gauri Lankesh murder case should be arrested as soon as possible and put an end to such murders.”
Journalist Harish Rai speaking on the occasion said, “Facing many hurdles, Gauri Lankesh was managing the Newspaper which her father had started. Gauri’s news paper was a guide for young journalists. The murder of such a brave journalist is condemnable. Chief minister Siddaramaiah has assured to investigate Gauri’s murder case. We have trust in the police department. Surely Gauri will get justice.”
Later a memorandum was submitted to the Deputy commissioner Dr Jagadeesha to be handed over to the government. After receiving the memorandum, DC Dr Jagadeesha said that he would send the memorandum to the government”.
President of DKWJU Jagannath Bala and other journalists were also present.
