DMA to be Consulted on the Assault during CMC meeting – CMC Commissioner
Udupi: “The Director of Municipal Administration will take cognizance of the issue of assault on an individual in the CMC meeting hall”, said CMC Commissioner Manjunathaiah. He was speaking during the CMC general meeting held at Sathyamurthy Hall, Udupi here on June 31.
CMC Councillor Vasanthi Shetty said that the attack on an individual during the CMC meeting has projected the CMC in a negative manner. She questioned the action initiated by the President against the CMC councillors for assaulting an individual whose presence had irked the Congress CMC councillors. She also said that CMC president Meenakshi Madhava Bannaje is solely responsible for the attack on the individual by Congress councillors.
CMC President Meenakshi Madhava Bannanje said that the BJP had sponsored the attack; it was a pre planned move by the BJP to bring a bad name for the CMC. Councillor Yuvraj said that the BJP was enjoying watching the assault by clapping hands. The intentions of the person who had entered the CMC hall were unknown. As the verbal fight intensified in the meeting hall, CMC President Meenkashi intervened and asked the CMC members to calm down.
As both ruling and opposition councillors continued to level allegations, Meenakshi Madhav Bannaje directed the CMC Commissioner to continue with the agenda. As the ruckus continued, CMC Commissioner Manjunathaiah said the advice of the Director of the Municipal administration will be consulted for initiating action for the assault on an individual. The Director of Municipal Administration will be visiting CMC, Udupi and the issue will be effectively discussed, he added.
The 4 blocks are identified for dredging in the Baje dam, the deputy commissioner has written a letter to the government; Minister Pramod Madhwaraj is in consultation with the government to get necessary approval on initiating dredging in the Baje dam said Commissioner Manjunathaiah.
Councillor Prashanth Amin said that CCTV has to be installed near the Raj Fish Mill as people were dumping waste. Commissioner said that necessary action will be initiated and CCTV will be installed.
CMC Councillors congratulated staff Ganesh and Raghavendra for effectively supplying water during the crisis. Ganesh said that the water supply will be regulated to control wastage of water. The regulation on water supply can prevent the supply of water by tankers. CMC Commissioner Manjunathaiah said that Ganesh, Satish and Raghavendra have made extra efforts in ensuring the supply of water during the crisis.
CMC Member Narasimha Nayak walked out of the meeting for the failure of CMC to address the road repair issue near Tiger Circle, Manipal. CMC President Meenakshi Madhav Bannaje said that the NH does not fall under the jurisdiction of CMC and MP Shobha Karandlaje should be approached in this matter, as she too has the responsibility, she added.
