Don Bosco School Shirva hosts AICS Schools inter-school Football Tournament ‘Kick …On – 2019’
Udupi: “Participation in sports activities will inculcate sportsman spirit among the students and prepare them well to face the world with grit”, said Dr Daisy Vas Physical Education Director, Dr TMA Pai College of Education Manipal.
She was speaking after inaugurating the AICS Schools of Udupi district inter-school Football Tournament ‘Kick …On – 2019’ at Don Bosco School Campus, Shirva on Saturday, August 31.
“Defeat and victory are common in life. One should not become too proud of the success and should also not break down during failures. Victory should be accepted with a level head and failure should be taken as a stepping stone for success. The fight to win is important and it helps to develop other qualities in human beings,” she said.
Prior to the inauguration, the Chief guest Dr Daisy Vas was accorded a warm welcome with a salute by the School Band along with the guests of honour of the day Fr Denis D’Sa (Correspondent, Don Bosco/St. Mary’s Educational Institutions), Fr Ashwin Aranha (Asst. PP Our Lady of Health, Shirva), Wilson D’Souza (Vice President Parish Council), Leena Machado (Secretary Parish Council), Melwin Aranha (Co-ordinator of Commissions) and Fr Mahesh D’Souza (Principal, Don Bosco Eng. Med. School) and others who were escorted ceremoniously to the specially built dais on the occasion. It was a wonderful display by the school band played by the students of the school.
In his presidential address Fr Denis D’Sa Correspondent, Don Bosco/St. Mary’s Educational Institutions said, “Sports promotes health and Fitness, unfortunately, today’s big problem among the Kids is Obesity because of fast food, elevators, Air Conditioned rooms and cars playing with machines. So students have forgotten exercise in daily life. Sports promote Happiness and Harmony. Students should give importance not just to academics but also to Physical and Mental excises”, he said.
The school choir sang a prayer song invoking God’s blessings followed by the felicitation of the guests of honour with floral bouquets by the students. The sports flag was then hoisted by Fr Denis D’Sa.
The grand Udupi district inter-school Football Tournament ‘Kick …On – 2019’ was officially inaugurated by releasing the balloons by the guests of honour.
On the occasion, Dr Daisy Vas was felicitated by the guests with a traditional shawl, fruit basket, flower garland and a memento.
Priya Dimple welcomed the gathering, Savitha delivered the Vote of Thanks.
A total of 11 AICS Schools of Udupi district participated in the district inter-school Football Tournament ‘Kick …On – 2019’
School Management committee members Julian Rodrix, Diana, Melwin D’Souza and Norbert Machado were present.
