Don’t give Deadline, allow us to investigate Abhishek Suicide case – SP Annamalai

Chikkamagaluru: “Allow us to investigate the Abhishek suicide case. I will not accept any deadline in this regard. Do not threaten the police department with ‘Chikkamagaluru Chalo’, giving the deadline”, warned SP of Chikkamagaluru Annamalai to ABVP leaders on January 21.

SP Annamalai said, “The student of JCBM college Shringeri and also ABVP member had committed suicide. The ABVP leaders have given 48 hours deadline to arrest the accused behind the suicide. Such blackmailing tactics will not work and will not be accepted by the police department. Everyone has the right to protest but in the name of protest, no one has the right to violate the law of the land and damage property. If the protestors call for a peaceful protest the police department will provide protection but if anyone violates the law in the name of protest the police department will take action. Even if a thousand students violate the law we are ready to file cases against them”, warned SP Annamalai.

SP Annamalai also said, “The Police department is always ready to maintain law and order in their respective station limits. If outsiders come and threaten the police, we will take stringent action against them. We have already arrested 19 persons involved in crimes. Out of the 19, four persons are from Aldur and were involved in communal violence.”

SP Annamalai also warned that if any of the protesters forcibly enters the classrooms and force the students to participate in the protest, or involve in pelting stones or other illegal activities we will take strict action against them. We have already filed FIRs against 19 students who were involved in pelting stones at the MES college of which the CCTV camera footage is available. We will arrest all those who were involved in pelting stones at the MES college and destroying property.

“A transparent investigation of the Abhishek suicide case is in progress and 22 persons have been questioned. No names were mentioned in the death note”, said SP Annamalai.

SP also clarified that while filing the complaint Abhishek’s father has mentioned the names of the college principal, administration board and two NSUI members. ABVP members have filed cases against 11 persons including 8 congress leaders. We have filed cases and the investigation is on.
