Chennai, Dec 10 (IANS) Actor Ravi Teja, who goes by the sobriquet Mass Maharaja, swears by the title and says that as long as audiences accept him in his mass avatars, he doesn’t see the need to experiment.
“It’s not that I haven’t experimented. But whenever I did, the result has not been satisfying. Hence, I like to concentrate on doing films that entertain scores of people who are responsible for my successful career. When I’m loved for what I’m doing, I don’t see the need to experiment,” Ravi Teja told IANS in an interview.
The 47-year old star, known for producing out-and-out commercial entertainers, promises that his latest Telugu outing “Bengal Tiger” will appeal to everybody.
“Although we have a predictable story, but the way it has been treated will make all the difference. We’ve made an entertaining film and I guarantee that it won’t disappoint,” he said, adding that he had first heard a line of the story four years ago.
Directed by Sampath Nandi, the film stars Tamannaah Bhatia, Raashi Khanna and Boman Irani in important roles.
“Even before Sampath made ‘Racha’, he narrated the line and I really liked it. However, I asked him to work on it. Meanwhile, both of us got busy with our respective projects and finally decided to join hands now,” he added.
Earlier this year, Sampath had walked out of “Sardaar Gabbar Singh”, when he was called and offered “Bengal Tiger”.
A few years ago, a bilingual project that Sampath was working on with Kannada actor Upendra was shelved when it was on the verge of completion.
“People thought it was a bad idea to be teaming up with a director who has had a history of bad luck. I didn’t let such silly reasons bother me. As an actor, I only give importance to the script and the confidence of the director. I don’t let any other reasons influence me or my decisions,” he said, heaping praise on Sampath, who is finally having a release after three years.
“He’s a fantastic technician and a laid-back director. He’s also very accommodating and willing to take suggestions,” he said.
Next, Ravi will team up with directors Venu Sree Raam and Chakri for two Telugu projects, which are currently at different stages of pre-production.
