Don’t Spread False Rumours about Missing Suvarna Thribhuja Boat – SP Laxman Nimbargi
Udupi: The District SP Laxman Nimbaragi has appealed to the public not to play with the feelings of family members of the missing fishermen spreading rumours and false news on social media about the search operations for seven fishermen onboard the fishing boat Suvarna Thribhuja that set sail from Malpe port on December 13.
He was speaking to media persons after his weekly phone-in programme at the DPO Bannanje on Friday, February 8. “Some unknown people are spreading false rumours on the social media and some of the media houses are also publishing these rumors based on the social media news. Such news hurts the feelings of the missing fishermen’s family members and also affect the search operations”, he said.
Sp further said, “Two weeks ago, teams from the Navy using SONAR traced 23-meter-long debris in the sea which is not related to Suvarna Thribhuja, It was just a Rock. Currently, a special ship from the Navy has been deployed for 3D mapping in the Malwan region and it will give a clear picture. Recently fishermen found the cabin of a boat which has also been confirmed by them not belonging to Suvarna Tribhuja”, he said.
