Don’t You Dare! Trouble Makers to be Dealt by Strong Police Battalion
Mangaluru: Nehru Maidan is a sea of the police force- there are more policemen than the usual crowd of cricketers. Police battalion in couple thousands are in Mangaluru from various parts of the State, in order to bring law and order during Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan visit to Mangaluru, who will be gracing a “Harmony Rally” on Saturday, 25 February 2017 at Nehru Maidan, organized by CPM(I). Since there has many protests and also a call given by Sangh Parivar groups like Bajrang Dal, Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Hindu Janajagruthi Vedike and other saffron organizations, the Police Commissioner and Superintendent of Police of DK have taken all the precautions in arranging the required police force to handle tomorrow’s event.
As mentioned by Police commissioner Chandra Sekhar that People have the right to protest peacefully and these are the basic rights which need to be protected. But since Sangh Parivar has called for a bandh, which is unconstitutional and there is also a supreme court ruling on it, the PC has taken all the measures by arranging for six SP’s, Ten DySP’s, and nearly 2000 men and women officers to handle the situation tomorrow. Apart from these police force, the Mangaluru city commissionerate will deploy more than 1500 police personnel. All this is done to ensure that there is peace during the Rally.

Also, CCTV’s have been installed in 17 checkpoints, where police will monitor the movements. As per the Supreme Court , Whatever damages caused during the Hartal will be recovered from the responsible person/organization who did it. The police battalion already in town, have already done their trial round around the city, and they are all prepared to handle any untoward incidents.
Speaking to Team Mangalorean, Valentine D’Souza-DySp-City Crime said, “Just like we have to give the respect and protection to any CM that visits our City, so without any bias, we are all ready to provide full security to CM Pinarayi Vijayan’s visit to Mangaluru, when he addresses the Harmony Rally at Nehru Maidan. The entire venue will be thoroughly checked tonight, and police security will guard the venue from all corners. We are also ready to handle any untoward incidents that could take place. We request the citizens not to get into any fights, riots etc and unnecessarily face the consequences. We hope for a peaceful rally and proceedings tomorrow”.
In the meantime, Minister Ramanath Rai has also assured full protection to CM Panarayi’s visit, and has also directed the police authorities to handle tomorrow’s proceedings in a lawful manner. PC Chandra Sekhar has also requested the citizens of Mangaluru not to listen to any rumours, and if they notice anyone creating nuisance/damage should immediately contact the 24X7 police control room by calling 100-your identity will be kept confidential.
Responding to the queries Chandra Sekhar said, “We have booked people under the preventive section and we are taking bonds from them. Whoever has signed the bonds we will leave them, if they don’t sign the bonds we will arrest them and send them to various jails. 120 people have executed the bonds so far. They have given in written that they will not indulge in any illegal activities. They have mentioned that they nor their followers will indulge in any illegal activities”.
When asked about the attack on CPM office, the Police commissioner said, “Cases will be booked against those indulging in illegal activities. We have also booked two cases in the North and East police station against the damage of banner in Pumpwell and other areas. We respect every citizen’s right to protest peacefully. I stand for the right of those who protest peacefully whoever they are. If someone tries to take the law into their hands they will be in trouble. Protesting is the basic essence of democracy, a particular place has been alloted
for them to protest. Even if anyone protests against me, I will stand for their right to protest but if they say that they will do this and that and disturb the peace we will not let anyone do it”.
When asked about stone pelting which is common and how will you prevent it? Chandra Sekhar said, “We have enough intelligence to find out the offenders. We are not trying to trouble people, but people who are involved in illegal activities will be dealt with. If there is any untoward incident we will take action on those responsible. Checking will also be done at the border points.
Wow! Looking at all these armed vehicles and heavy police battalion, I bet no Sangh Parivar would indulge in riots or misbehavior -Good job by Police Commissioner and SP. Seeing this heavy police force, I am sure the Saffron group guys will……………..
Bandh is illegal and unconstitutional. I never supported this disease called ‘bandh’. Those who engage in stone pelting or private property damage should face the consequence and heavy fines. As I have said before, if any organization/group calls for ‘bandh’, they should be made to pay at least Rs.100 crore per city per day for any potential damage and inconveniences. See how quickly the bandh disappears!!
