Dowry harassment, corporator’s daughter commits suicide
Mysuru: Daughter of Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) council member has allegedly committed suicide at her residence in HSR layout in Bengaluru on Friday.
The deceased Vanitha is the daughter of ward 34 corporator D Nagbushan. It is alleged that, Vanita committed suicide at her residence in HSR Layout in Bengaluru and has left behind a four-page death note stating dowry harassment from her in-laws.
The victim was married to a Tamil Nadu-based techie, Vasanth, seven months back. According to the death note, Vanita’s mother-in-law Gayatri allegedly tortured her to bring dowry and was not even giving her food properly. Vanita’s husband got to know about her death when he came home in the evening. Police have taken Vasanth and Gayatri into custody.
Nagbushan is a close aide of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his brother D Dhruvakumar is the Chairman of Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA).
