Dr B R Ravikanthe Gowda Takes Charge as SP of DK
Mangaluru: The newly appointed superintendent of police of Dakshina Kannada district Dr B R Ravikanthe Gowda IPS, took charge of his office here, on January 29.
SP Sudheer Reddy, who was posted to Dakshina Kannada and took charge on June 22, has been transferred to Belagavi as the SP. Dr Ravikanthe Gowda was given a guard of honour at the SP’s office.
After taking charge as SP of DK, speaking to the mediapersons SP Dr Ravikanthe said, “I have taken charge as the SP of DK and I am very happy to serve the people of DK. My first priority is to maintain law and order and to maintain people-friendly policies. Those who face problems should visit the police stations without any fear. My priority is to give them protection to those who follow the laws of the land. I will take the help of the Constables and senior police officers and see to it that there will not be any problems in maintaining the law and order situation in DK.”
Dr Ravikanthe further said, “DK is a very sensitive district, understanding the sensitivity, the law and order situation will be maintained with the help and cooperation of all concerned. The duty of the police is same everywhere.”
When asked about the misuse of the Social media Dr Ravikanthe said, “The social media will be monitored, we need to encourage healthy discussions on Social media. If anyone tries to misuse the social media to incite or create violence they will be dealt with sternly. I urge the social media users to use the social media for good causes.”
When asked about the transfer of SP Sudheer Reddy Dr Ravikanthe said, “I do not want to comment on it. I like to work in Dakshina Kannada because the people here are very sensitive, well cultured, devoted and well educated. I will work under the purview of the law and if the government transfers me, I am ready to accept it since I am a government servant.”
When asked about transfers during election time, Dr Ravikanthe said, “The government has appointed me as the SP of DK. Today I have taken charge and if the government will transfer me I am ready to accept it. I have worked in Hubballi and Dharwad, I will continue the good work done by my predecessor. I want the people of DK to live in peace and harmony. The very purpose the government has given me the uniform and all the facilities as a district superintendent of police is to see that the people here live in the comfort zone. They should feel happy and their protection is our duty. According to the law, there are only two categories of people, the one who follow the law and the other violating it. Those who follow the law and order, we will provide them security and those who violate it will be sternly dealt with.”
