His Message to Mangalorean.com readers:
Dr. B R Shetty says that if you have a strong will, commitment and determination you can achieve anything and everything, conditional that you have a dream and a vision. And to make this dream a reality you need to have the necessary armour and tools. Work hard towards achieving your goals and climb the ladder of success. The sky is the limit. When you have reached the pinnacle of success do not forget your roots. He concludes by making the words of Robert Frost (Stopping by the woods on a snowy evening) the well-known poet his very own. And I have promises to keep and miles to go before I sleep.

MY Excellency Please read below artical from Indian School Muscat..
we are common people… kidly do needful
and Investicate Mr, Tony Alexander (BOD Charman – Indian schools Muscat)regarding this issue..
We Want Our Principal
Indian School Muscat (ISM) principal Achuthan Madhav. Photo – Times of Oman
Dear Sir/Madam,
I wish to submit all the facts and events related to my resignation, as they unfolded.
On Wednesday (22nd May), I was called to the BOD office, where the Chairman of the Board of Directors, another director Mr. Michael Arul and Education Advisor Mr. Mathew Abraham, were present. They asked me the following:
1) To explain about the prefect elections in the Middle school. And why two students were included in the selection apart from the elected ones in the middle classes?
As there is no written guideline on this matter, the Principal sets the process. I explained the procedure that in the beginning of the session, we ask children of the class to elect their prefects (1 Boy, 1 Girl). If there are other talented children in the class who are good in Academics, Sports, Dance, Music, Quiz, and good in behavior, then some of these are also nominated as prefect from the class who may be used for the service as library prefects, floor duty prefects, sports prefects, etc. as the need arises. Besides this we have also introduced a system whereby students receiving 4 good chits (recognizing their good work) from the academic staff. Essentially the matter is clearly within the Principal\’s prerogative to execute.
As a matter of normal practice, used for communicating with my staff, I asked the Vice Principal of Middle Section to include the names of certain students. Such students should automatically fall under the nominated category at the end of the elected list in each class. The VP Middle and his colleague carried out the selection process in cognizance of the accepted norm and compiled the list of prefects along with the respective class teachers.
2) The BOD members also asked me why changes were made in class teacher\’s original list of prefects at the time of submission to the BOD.
I explained that these are internal school documents which are simply used for preparing and finalizing the prefect names (both elected and nominated) for investiture ceremony. I originally received a master list of names and these documents were not shared with me. Such papers are typically discarded in schools after recording the results. In this specific case these were retained by the staff for reasons unknown to me. I was also surprised when the BOD specifically requested for these documents.
Upon the request from BOD, I asked VP Middle section and election officer to provide the needed details for the BOD submission. Upon observing the documents for the first time, I noticed that there was incorrect order in one of the submissions. As I was asked to submit the documents immediately to BOD and it was late in the evening I personally corrected the document error before submitting to the BOD as the sequence in which the result in the girl category was wrongly recorded by the teacher. Prima-facie it implied that they were all elected while the fact is that serial no. 2 and 3 were the nominated prefects. Serial no. 2 nominated by the Principal and Serial no. 3 by another staff. I felt it appropriate to list the nominated students also in sequence of their votes received. Upon correction the list was submitted to the BOD.
The Chairman and Mr. Michael Arul asked me that to close the matter; I should submit a written explanation whereby I should accept the changes to the document as my mistake. I received a written reminder for this on the 26th of May asking me to ensure that the apology letter is delivered to the BOD office by noon time on the following day (27th May). I did submit the document the next day and thought the matter was closed as promised.
Despite the fact that the BOD were in possession of a few SMS messages that the VP Middle had shared with them, no other questions were raised in personal enquiry. These messages were my personal instructions to the VP Middle section which were disclosed without my knowledge. Now in hindsight this was carried out with the intentions to malign my reputation.
Unexpectedly and without stating the agenda, I was called at 8pm on 10th June, to join the ongoing BOD meeting and asked the following questions:
(i) Why you included the additional prefects and why you changed the order of names in the list.
As I had already submitted an apology, I was left speechless as I could not understand the reason I was once again being questioned in front of the Board members. I admitted my \’mistake\’ as I had already submitted a letter of explanation to that regard and mentioned that I shall not repeat.
(ii) They asked me if there was any pressure from anyone in the SMC to include the names as prefects.
I said \”I swear that honestly no SMC member has pressurized me and it was my personal action.\”
(iii) They then asked me if I sent any SMS to VP middle section.
I was thoroughly shocked at this unexpected question and took few seconds to recollect and said yes. I replied that every day several SMS communications are carried between my colleagues for the day to day functioning of the school. While I confirmed sending the SMS to VP Middle section, I could notice that I was now being framed.
At this stage I wish to inform you sir, that the enquiry was started in a covert way by the Educational advisor when on the pretext of replicating the prefect election process in other interior schools he took permission to visit the middle section to go through the procedures. Once again this was done in consultation with the same VP from middle section.
(iv) Then the Chairman asked me why on ISM Calendar Swami Vivekananda\’s photo was embossed? Did you take the permission from the BOD or SMC?
I explained that Swami Vivekananda is an inspirational leader to students and hence I included his photo. Likewise, next year we will have other inspirational leaders like Mother Theresa, Abdul Kalam, etc.
I further explained that normally SMC approves the school number of working dates, summer and winter holidays in the academic committee meeting but the design of the calendar, Quotes, the events, tests, exams and front cover of the diary are my responsibility. I take full responsibility of the cover and discuss with school approved printer, so that the school dairy is ready for distribution to parents by April each year.
(v) Mr. Arul Michael asked me if any SMC member\’s children were shifted from afternoon to morning.
I replied yes I did shift the wards of SMC members as per stipulated criteria for siblings or upon receiving instructions from the superiors.
No further questions were asked and the Chairman stated that the BOD found these actions unacceptable and wants me to resign. I pleaded with the members present that I have worked very hard 24×7 for the school and that they please allow me to continue for the remaining few months of the existing academic year and retire honorably. With the hope that they will be kind toward these minor issues I once again said sorry and promised to be careful in my working.
I was asked to wait in the adjacent office. After sometime, the Vice Chairman and Mr. Michael Arul came with two other members and stated that the BOD has decided that I must resign immediately stating health or personal reasons.
I mentioned that this is extremely serious for me and I wish to discuss this with my wife before taking action. The BOD stated that if I do not submit the resignation by 8:30am the next morning, they will send a termination notice by 9am.
One BOD member said that I better resign now; otherwise the consequences will be very bad. We will write to CBSE about this and even the Govt. Of India National Award will be withdrawn. It will spoil your name as academician, so quietly submit your resignation.
I was in tears and was terrified and I controlled it. I came home and discussed this with my wife. Next day morning Tuesday 11th June, I submitted the resignation at 8.30 am to the BOD office and they accepted the resignation immediately.
I assure everybody that these are the real facts.
Yours sincerely,
Achuthan Madhav

Phenomenal article on BR Shettty\’s achievements. He makes every Indian proud! He should be homoured wirh a PADMA SHREE award by Governemnt of India for his tremondous contribution!
I was in Abu Dhabi for a few days and had the honour of meeting Shri BR Shetty for a few moments as he was waiting for his car to go to his office.
Even though the meeting lasted for a few minutes it was memorable for two reasons
1. I was stuck by his sheer humility, no airs and no sign of superiority.
2. His face had empathy and goodness of human character written all over and it is a lesson for all young and old people as to how not to get corrupted by fame, achievement and wealth and be grounded all the time.
I wish him and his family all the best in bringing the Indian diasporas’ status even higher in Middle East through his vision and social responsibility acts of providing good schools, good medical healthcare, good and healthy organic food and supporting Indian ayurdedic and other Pharma comapnies to expand in the Middle East!
