Dr BR Ambedkar Medical College Alumni -1987 Batch Reunite for a Good Cause

Mangaluru : In a heart warming gesture the Doctors of the Alumni of Dr B R Ambedkar Medical College Bangalore (batch of 1987) sponsored the funding of corrective cardiac procedures for two economically backward children in A J Hospital & Research Centre, Mangalore.
Earlier this year, the Alumni had a Reunion celebration in Bangalore to commemorate their 30th Anniversary. Dr. Purushotham an alumni & an interventional Cardiologist in A J Hospital said “It was an unanimous decision by our batch mates to use the collective funds for a charitable cause as a part of the celebrations to make it more meaningful & memorable. “
The funds were used towards procedures to correct Congenital heart defects in two children. A 16 year old teenager underwent a successful surgical closure of Ventricular Septal Defect & infundibular resection to relieve the pulmonary stenosis. The other patient is a two year old girl who had a non surgical closure of a patent ductus arteriosus with a device. These procedures were performed by a team of doctors comprising Dr. Gaurav Shetty, Dr. Gururaj Tantri, Dr. R Purushotham and Dr. Prem Alva.
