Professor and Former HOD Department of Ophthalmology KMC Mangaluru Dr C R Kamath inaugurated the Optical Coherence Tomography Angioplex unit by cutting the ribbon at the Ophthalmology department.
Later a stage programme was held at the Sushrutha Hall. The programme began with an invocation. Professor and HOD of Ophthalmology Dr Shobha G Pai welcomed the gathering. The programme was inaugurated by Dr C R Kamath by lighting the traditional lamp along with other dignitaries on the dais.
Addressing the gathering Dr C R Kamath said, “I retired from KMC 25 years ago but I am still in touch with them. I am here to give tribute to the teaching staff because they have raised the standard of teaching to a very high level. They have done so very well that they are ready to miss a meal but never miss a class that is the quality of the teaching faculty in KMC. PGs are lucky to have such an institution to pursue their education.”
Dr C R Kamath further said, “I am not here to give a sermon because the sermon makes everyone sleep. I would like to congratulate the Institution for their quality education and I also would like to advise the teaching faculty to make the lessons more interesting so that the students be more eager to learn things. When I had joined the medical field, there was not much technology. We were using the torch to check the eyes but still we were doing the surgery successfully. Now we have advanced technology and we can find out the exact cause of the disease”.
Dean of KMC Mangaluru Dr Venkatraya Prabhu also spoke on the occasion. Dr Gladys presented a PPT on Optical Coherence Tomography Angioplex. Regional Chief Clinical Services KMC Hospital Mangaluru Dr Anand Venugopal delivered the vote of thanks.
