Dr Edmond inducted into Health Task Force of DDMA
Mangaluru: Dr Edmond Fernandes has been made a member of the health task force of the District Disaster Management Authority, Government of Karnataka on 17th May, 2016.
The health task force is established to engage with disaster preparedness and mitigation activities particularly pertaining to public health in the district. The health task force is chaired by the Deputy Commissioner, Dakshina Kannada District with the District Health and Family Welfare officer being the Member Secretary. It is a 11 member sub-committee under DDMA which will co-ordinate, liaison and advice the District Administration from time to time on the various disaster reduction activities.
Dr Edmond has been working on disaster resilience at the International level and has previously responded to Typhoon Yolanda in the Philippines and Chennai Floods providing medical relief and rendering humanitarian assistance. He is also CEO, Center for Health & Development, Mangaluru which is a training and advocacy organization working in Disaster risk reduction, urban health and public policy.
