Dr Parameshwar to Continue as KPCC President – Ivan D’Souza

Mangaluru: “To prepare for the forthcoming Assembly elections in 2018, the AICC has given priority to teamwork and formed a strong team. Observers from the AICC had taken the opinion of members from the block level. Later all the senior leaders were called to Delhi to discuss the matter with AICC Vice President Rahul Gandhi. Dr Parameshwar will continue as the KPCC President. The forthcoming 2018 elections will be held under the leadership of CM Siddaramaiah,” said Chief Whip Ivan D’Souza in a press meet held at his office here on June 1.

Addressing the mediapersons Ivan said, “The BJP and JD(S) are spreading rumours that elections will be held in December but for any reasons, elections will not be held in December. Elections will be held next year with more promises. Whatever assurances we had given to the people during the last elections have been fulfilled. We have provided stable governance. In our 5 years tenure, we have not been involved in any corruption, we have not failed in fulfilling our promises. There are some differences in our party but all our decisions are taken collectively. If the same situation existed in BJP the members would have suggested 16 names since Eshwarappa, Yeddyurappa and Ananth Kumar have differences between them.”

Ivan further said, “In the name of Cow Slaughter BJP is creating confusion among the people. BJP is not allowing the people to live in peace. The Supreme Court has clearly mentioned that consuming beef, protecting cows or any other issues related to cows is the right of the state government. The Union environment ministry has asked the agriculture ministry to enact a national law to prohibit slaughtering of cows and selling of beef or beef products. The NDA government should not put restrictions on the food habits of the people. The people of the state will not accept it. According to the new rule, farmers cannot sell aged cows, who will take care of such cows. Let the government start the Gaushaalas”.

Ivan also said, “India is number one in the export of beef. Does the NDA government have any programme to ban the export of beef? 35,000 crore tons of beef is being exported every year from our country. The NDA government is targeting Muslims because most of the retail Beef business is in the hands of Muslims. The corporate companies are involved in all kinds of trade and the government now wants to hand over the beef business to them. This issue will go to the court, the NDA government cannot implement it since most of the states will go to the court pressing for the withdrawal of the ban”

“The NDA government led by Modi has completed three years in power. I welcome the way Modi addresses the farmers. But do the farmers benefit from his speeches? In the three years of BJP’s tenure, none of the farmers have benefited.  In our country, 80% are farmers and they have not benefited in any way. Modi had announced of creating 2 crore jobs but he was able to create only 2.4 lakh jobs. Due to demonetization, many have lost their jobs and businesses. Modi was delivering speeches of ending Naxalism, protecting the soldiers in border areas, ending terrorism, and corruption but he has done nothing. Modi had gone to Pakistan and had lunch with the Pakistani PM. But as soon as he returned from Pakistan, many of our soldiers were killed by the Pak army. Modi has done only marketing and has spent a lot of money for publicity but development has been zero. Congress is working for the development of the state. BJP has failed in all aspects and in the last three years, the achievement of BJP is zero. The vision 150 of BJP is dead. The BJP is wasting its time in infighting.”

Mayor Kavitha Sanil, former Mayor Ashraf and others were also present.
