Dr Ranjan Pai Inaugurates renovated ICU at KMC Attavar

Mangaluru: The renovated Intensive Care Unit (ICU) was inaugurated at the KMC Hospital Attavar here on April 28.

The Renovated Intensive Care Unit (ICU) was inaugurated by the Dr Ranjan R Pai Chairman of Manipal Education and Medical group by unveiling the plaque and later cutting the ribbon.

Pro Chancellor Manipal University Dr H S Ballal speaking to the mediapersons said, “In the ICU state of the art facilities are very important since post-operative care is needed when patients critically ill have to be monitored. We have upgraded the facilities with 20 beds at a cost of Rs 60 lakhs. We will not compromise with the quality, whatever we give more importance for quality. We are now celebrating 25 years of our medical service at KMC Attavar.”

Dr Ballal further said, “We have upgraded the facilities with new equipments. The facilities should be affordable for the poorest of the poor and to cover it we have the Arogya Suraksha Card. Our Chancellor Ramdas Pai wanted all the people of Attavar ward to come under the Arogya card facilities. We have a policy that all patients with BPL cards should be treated in our hospital. We have two types of cards one is the Arogya Suraksha Card and the other, the Arogya card. Under Arogya Suraksha card BPL families will get Rs 50,000 worth treatment free of cost. Patients with Arogya card will get a special discount of 20%.”

When questioned about KMC supporting generic medicines, Dr Ballal said, “We support Generic medicines and prescribe it because it is beneficial for the poor section of the people.”
