Drug Offender Kindi Rahim Booked under Goonda Act, Sent to Bellary Jail
Addressing the mediapersons Police Commissioner Chandra Sekhar said that this is the first time under the police commissionerate, we have booked a drug offender under the goonda act. Rahim was supplying drugs to students and innocent public. So far 8 cases have been registered against him in which five cases are in the court and three under investigation. Many youngsters are suffering because of drug addiction and have spoiled their lives for which Rahim is one of the main cause. We have arrested him under the Karnataka prevention of dangerous activities of bootleggers, drug-offenders, gamblers, goondas act 1985. He will be in jail for a year. We are doing our best to reduce the supply of drugs. There are a number of offenders on our list, we will arrest them based on priority and send them to jail.
He further said, “We have identified 135 drug addicts in the commissionerate and we need to rehabilitate them. We will see that they will be admitted to the drug de-addiction centre and well keep in touch with them for 6 months monitoring their progress since there are chances of relapse. Drug addiction is curable, they need help, we should not boycott them socially. They are like our brothers and we should help them overcome the addiction to lead a normal life.So far we have seized 94 kg of cannabis and ganja, 60-70 grams of cocaine. Rahim is known as Kandi (window) Rahim because he sells drugs through the window. We will continue our operations and on priority will be sending them to jail so that we can reduce the drug supply rate. We are also trying to contact the college and school authorities to bring awareness to the students about the disadvantages of drugs. Parents should also understand that when they find behavioral changes in their children, they should counsel them.
Kindi Rahim is the main trouble maker in the city, he was supplying drugs, ganja and cannabis to the students. We have also seized 40 grams of cocaine from a Nigerian. We are trying to keep Rahim for one year in Bellary jail. Most of the victims are college and school dropouts, he said.

This is another case where we are targeting the wrong people. Drugs should be made legal as well. Consuming drugs is a no-victim crime. We sell alcohol and brag about it. At the same time, we treat usage of other drugs as a crime. Human society has a long way to go…
