Dubai: Houseful Tulu Stage Play ‘Yeddeduppuga’ Marks 4th Anniversary of Gammath Kalavider

Dubai: It is rightly said that “It takes a lot of people to make a winning team. Everybody’s contribution is important”. After the successful staging of much awaited tulu play ‘Yeddeduppuga’, written by G Krishna Manjeshwara, on February 13, 2015 at the Emirates Theatre, Sheikh Zayed Road to mark the fourth anniversary, Team Gammath Kalavider once again proved themselves and showed drama lovers that an amateur group of drama artists can perform drama equally to any professional drama troupe.

In the houseful Emirates Theatre, the drama started traditionally with the lighting of lamp by the guest along with invitees. Vasu Shetty, a stage play artiste, active member of many organizations, supporter and sponsor of most of the cultural and community programmes in UAE, was honoured for his dedicated and selfless service to society.

Satish Ullal, one of senior members of Gammath Kalavider and an active committee member of Dubai Billawas, was also honoured for his dedicated and selfless service to the society. G Krishna Manjeshwara, writer of “Yeddeduppuga”, was also felicitated for his contributions in the field of Tulu stage play. As he was unable to attend the show, Vishwanath Shetty Nelyadi received the felicitation on his behalf.

Gammath Kalavider honoured Janardhanan, Chief Executive of Spandana (a home of rehabilitation centre for mentally challenged adults in Udupi district and a non-governmental organization which works towards uplifting the less fortunate members of society), and handed over a cheque of Rs 7.56 lakh to Spandana, which inspired few other community leaders and businessmen to extend their generous monetary support, by promising to contribute towards the noble cause.

The entertainment programme began with melodious songs sung by Akshatha Rao, Prasad Shetty and Harish Sherigar, who were all honoured for the same. The new face of Gammath Kalavider, the actress who won an award recently as ‘best female support actor’ for her role in a Tulu movie, Deepthi Salian was honoured. All the guests and sponsors were felicitated. Sarvotham Shetty shared his views with the audience on behalf of all the guests.

All the sponsors, supporters and media representatives were honoured. ‘Yeddeduppuga’ was directed by Vishwanath Shetty. Deepthi Salian played the lead role, brilliantly supported by other actors including Vasu Shetty, Suvarna Sathish Poojary, Kiran Shetty, Harish Kamath, Sampath Shetty, Sunil Suvarna, Jesh Bayar, Prakash Pakkala, Chithra Prasanna Shetty, Girish Kumar, Nitin Kumar, Monappa Poojary and Santhosh Poojary. Vishwanath Shetty Nelyadi supported in music and keyboard, and Team Broadway brilliantly setup lighting and sound system.

All tickets were sold out within a few hours from the time the counter opened. Comedy and family oriented stage play was enjoyed by the jam-packed audience. All the artistes were appreciated widely by the audience for their matured acting skills and efforts.

Rajesh Kutthar, a multi-talented artiste compered the programme very systematically and made the event a grand success. Harish Bangera, the patron of ‘Gammath Kalavider’ UAE, committee members and all the members of Gammath Kalavider UAE extended their sincere thanks to all the valued sponsors, Tulu drama lovers, media partners, volunteers, valued audience and each one who has directly or indirectly supported for the grand success of ‘Yeddeduppuga’.
