Marseille, July 1 (IANS) French football club Olympique de Marseille have reached a deal with Manchester City to sign Dutch international Karim Rekik.
The 20-year-old defender joined City four years ago but has hardly played for the four-time England’s top-flight champions. He spent last season back home in the Netherlands after being loaned to Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven, reports Xinhua.
Marseille said they had “found an agreement in principle for the permanent transfer of the Dutch international on Tuesday, pending a medical”. Rekik will be the third new signing at Stade Velodrome following winger Georges-Kevin Nkoudou from Nantes and goalkeeper Yohann Pele from Sochaux.
The club, having finished fourth in 2014-15 Ligue 1, have seen so far this summer the departures of regular starters Andre-Pierre Gignac, Andre Ayew, Jeremy Morel and Dimitri Payet.
