DVS and Moily Inaugurate Govt Lady Goschen Hospital ONGC – MRPL Anniversary Wing
Mangaluru: The much awaited Government Lady Goschen Hospital ONGC – MRPL anniversary wing was inaugurated at the Lady Goschen premises here on March 2.
The hospital building was inaugurated by D V Sadananda Gowda, Veerappa Moily and U T Khader by cutting the ribbon.
The programme began with an invocation. ONGC group General manager H L Prasad welcomed the gathering.
Addressing the gathering Minister UT Khader said, “I would like to congratulate ONGC-MRPL for their contribution to the health sector. Lady Goschen hospital is a symbol of respect to the state as well as the country. When the hospital is good, patients come in large numbers. Patients come to the Lady Goschen hospital from many districts. When Yogish Bhat was the MLA he had met one Reddy from Hyderabad who said that in remembrance of his daughter who had died, he would provide funds to renovate the lady Goschen Hospital and the MLA believed him. Accordingly, the foundation stone was laid after demolishing the old block. After the foundation stone was laid, Reddy disappeared. At the same time the then Petroleum minister Veerappa Moily had come to Mangaluru, he met the President of ONGC and requested to provide funds under CSR to construct the Lady Goschen Hospital. I would like to congratulate Veerappa Moily for his efforts in getting funds from ONGC for the Lady Goschen Hospital”.
U T Khader further said, “Every religion teaches us to remain grateful to anyone who helps us and I would like to thank Veerappa Moily for his contribution to Mangaluru. When the construction of the Hospital was going on the hospital was not in proper condition. Rs 51 crores will be spent for the total development of the Lady Goschen hospital. We should all give importance to our health. When I was the health minister I had implemented many health schemes. The oral health policy was started only in Karnataka. We have also started the Good Samaritan Act in Karnataka and this scheme is present only in our state. If anyone from any district, state or country meets with an accident, they should be given free treatment worth Rs 25000 for the first 48 hours. This kind of emergency care should be started in other states too. In Karnataka, we have implemented the Ayushman Karnataka health care started three years ago. In the entire country, only Karnataka started the Janasanjeevini scheme. When doctors prescribe medicine, the patient should get the medicine for that reason the Janasanjeevini scheme was started in the state. I had only designed this scheme which is now running successfully. In health care, we should provide quality medicines for our people. Our aim is to implement this scheme successfully.”
Khader also said, “The resources of the country should not be enjoyed by only a few people but every citizen has the right to enjoy the resources of this country. In development, we should forget politics and join hands with all the leaders. The last person in society should get basic facilities. Today we have inaugurated this building but the doctors and the administration should maintain this hospital well. I suggest the ONGC to adopt Lady Goschen hospital so that it will be well maintained and be useful for the poor.”
Addressing the gathering Union Minister D V Sadananda Gowda said, “Today is a happy day for the people of Dakshina Kannada because Lady Goschen hospital has been inaugurated. Health is very much important for everyone. A healthy person will build a healthy society and nation. The primary importance for the central or state government is health care and MRPL has given us an opportunity through this hospital. I would like to congratulate MRPL since our PM’s primary sector is the health sector. 50 crore people will benefit with Rs 5 lakh free health insurance. I congratulate Veerappa Moily for his initiative in getting the funds from MRPL. When Yogish Bhat was the MLA he came to me asking to get funds from MRPL to construct the Lady Goschen Hospital, I would like to congratulate him for his initiative. When we are into politics we need to think of the betterment of the people and work together.”
Former Minister and Member of Parliament Veerappa Moily speaking on the occasion said, “The ONGC-MRPL anniversary wing has been inaugurated at the Lady Goschen Hospital premises. Once when I was in Mangaluru along with my wife Malathi, the president of ONGC was also in the Circuit house. My wife Malathi insisted the ONGC President provide funds for the Lady Goschen Hospital and he agreed. The Lady Goschen Hospital was in a pathetic condition and many women coming for delivery were facing problems. Now ONGC has constructed a beautiful hospital which is very good work. I suggest ONGC also take up the responsibility of maintaining the hospital well. A government order should be passed for ONGC to maintain the hospital. Once again I congratulate ONGC for their kind gesture of providing funds for the Lady Goschen Hospital. We all should join hands for the development of the district forgetting party differences.”
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel also spoke on the occasion. MLA Vedavyas Kamath, Former minister Ramanath Rai, ZP President Meenakshi Shanthigodu, former MLA Yogish Bhat and others were also present.
