Early Christmas Gift! 22 Students receive Scholarship from CREDAI

Mangaluru: Seems like for 22 students who are the children of laborers of the building projects managed by members of Confederation of Real Estate and Developers Association of India (CREDAI)-Mangaluru Chapter, Christmas gifts came well in advance in the form of Scholarship cheques in the amount of Rs 500-Rs 10000. Regarding CREDAI-Mangaluru chapter, it is an pan India organization representing large and small industries builders and developers. Local chapter has over 65 members who have spearheaded the development of housing and commercial infrastructure in this beautiful coastal city, thereby giving employment to thousands of youth and unorganized labour. CREDAI is one of the highest contributors of revenue to the State and National exchequer through various taxes.

Addressing the media persons during a press meet held at Hotel Ocean Pearl-Mangaluru on Saturday, 2 December 2017 to brief about the Student Scholarship project, D B Mehta -President of Credai-Mangaluru chapter said, ” As part of Corporate Social Responsibility, Credai -Mangaluru has always been in the forefront in matters related to Funding of development Activities; Contribution to sports; Community Welfare and Health Services; Swachh Bharath Campaign; and Mangaluru City Beautification initiatives. We have also joined hands with Mangalore Round Table in the various community projects, especially the school renovation at Govt School-Bikkaranakatte, and other smart education gadgets installed at couple other govt. schools. Credai feels proud of the social service work that it has been doing towards the less privileged people in the society. And this Scholarship for students of our laborers is the First unique project launched this year, and will continue in the future years too”.

Student Welfare has been a priority and as part of its commitment towards the education of the poor and needy, Credai Mangaluru provided this scholarship to the deserving students of the Construction workers from this academic year and thereby making the first disbursal of the scholarship cheques today.The chief guest for the occasion, MLA J R Lobo after distributing the scholarship cheques to the 22 students while addressing the audience said, ” Apart from changing the infrastructure of mangaluru, Credai is also changing the lives of many, and making a difference in their lives, through various community projects. Each of us must have a good education. It is a requirement for us to do better in life. We all know about the quote that says “Education is the key to success.” This is true, in a sense that we are capable of being successful and will reach high in life if we are educated. Starting our childhood years, we are being educated. After we have our careers, we still continue to educate ourselves by researching and other activities.”

“Education is what broadens our horizons for us to have a better and wider understanding of the world around us. It will help us know how things are working, and how they should be operated. Being in a civilized society, we need to have more knowledge on what the modern world has to offer. If not, then we cannot live our daily lives the way other people do. Here Credai has been doing yeomen service in offering scholarship to students, thereby encouraging to pursue their studies further, and fare well in their academics, get a good job and support their families. The 22 students should be very grateful to the Credai members for their generous gifts, even in spite of hard times that the building industry is slightly facing now. Best of luck in your academics and think of a better career that suits you”.

As they say better late than never, due to other busy assignments, MCC Mayor Kavitha Sanil who arrived a bit late, also complimented Credai for their efforts in serving the community, and also helping the students in their academics. Siraj Ahmed-VP of Credai welcomed the gathering, while Rajshekar -the Manager of Credai-Mangaluru compered the programme-Naveen Cardoza- Secretary of Credai proposed the vote of thanks. Other dignitaries on the dais were- Erol Pinto-Treasurer, Vinod Pinto- Jt secretary and Pushparaj Jain- VP- Credai Karnataka.

More about -CREDAI Mangaluru- it was formally registered and launched on 15th July 2008, which is a district level body, which is affiliated to CREDAI Karnataka, addresses the district level problems and members meet on a regular basis to share industry information, address and resolve any concerns. The main Objectives of the local chapter are :

– To disseminate data, statistics and other related real estate development information to its members.
– To promote the interest of construction workers and to educate them on best practices.
– To provide a transparent platform for property purchasers, sellers and housing finance agencies; and to address grievances in a timely fashion.
– To be a knowledge bank for all property related enquiries in Mangaluru.
