Eco-friendly ‘Currency Ganesha idol’ attracts Public in Udupi
Udupi: A 12-ft Ganesha idol made using currency notes of 21 countries has become the star attraction in Udupi.
On the occasion of Ganesh Chathurthi, a Ganesha using currency was created by Venki Palimar, Srinath Manipal and Ravi Hirebettu with the support of Manohar Shetty Udupi.
Srinath Manipal, Venki Palimar and Ravi Hirebettu are the three artists. They have named the idol as “Vishwa Dhanadheepa Ganesha”.
While most of the currency notes used are from India, the rest of the currency notes are of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, China, Afghanistan, Bhutan, UAE, the U.S., Israel and other countries. The currency notes have been joined together in an artistic manner to create the idol.
The artists have been creating unique Ganesha Idols from the last 5 years. This team of three artists had earlier made Ganesh idols out of handmade paper, handloom items, biscuits and pulses during the previous Ganesh Chathurthi festivals.
The public can visit to view this creation from morning 10:00 am to evening at 7:00 pm until September 10 at the Vidya Samudra Road near Old Gitanjali Theatre.
