London, Aug 12 (IANS) Singer Ed Sheeran will be recognised by University Campus Suffolk (UCS), in his home county, at a ceremony later this year for his outstanding contribution to music.

The 24-year-old, who grew up in Framlingham, Suffolk, said that he was “delighted” with the honour, reports mirror.co.uk.

He said: “I’ve had an amazing year with my world tour and this makes it even better.

“Suffolk is very much where I call home and I’m always welcomed back and get so much support.

“Receiving this recognition is a real privilege. UCS is at an exciting point in its development and I look forward to building links with UCS and its students in the months and years to come.”

Other honorary graduates who will be recognised by the university this autumn include writer Ronald Blythe, best known for “Akenfield: Portrait Of An English Village”, an account of agricultural life in Suffolk.

The honorary awards will be presented during formal graduation ceremonies celebrating the successes of approximately 1,800 students across Suffolk and Great Yarmouth in September and October.

The university is yet to confirm which ceremony Sheeran will attend.
