Elaborate security arrangements made in Udupi for Paryaya Festival

Udupi: The police are making elaborate security arrangements for the smooth conduct of the forthcoming Paryaya festival to be held from January 17 to 18.

According to a press release issued by the Superintendent of Police Laxman B Nimbargi, the police from neighbouring districts will be pressed into the service.

One SP, One ASP, Six DYSP rank officials, 13 CPIs, 40 PSIs, 4 KSRP, 5 DAR, 3 Anti detection Squad platoons including 1000 police officials will be deployed for service for two days. CCTV cameras are installed around the Sri Krishna Temple. A police outpost is opened at Car Street to register the devotees’ grievances. Six check posts in (Ambagilu, MGM-Indrali, Kukkikatte, Balaipade, Ambalpadi, Bannanje) will be up for inspecting the vehicles.

As many as 15 alternative parking facilities are available. Board High School, MGM College ground, PPC College, Christian High School Ground, Christian PU College ground, Vivekananda Govt Hr, Pri. School Ajjarkad, St Cicelies Ground Ajjakard, UBMC Hr. Pri. School Ground, G T S School Ground Udupi, Government Composite High School Ajjarkad, Beedingudde Ground, North School Ground, Adi-Udupi Hr. Primary School, Volakadu School Ground, Anantheshwara English medium School ground.

Besides, the vehicular traffic will also be diverted to other routes keeping in view the heavy inflow of vehicles.

The buses plying towards Mumbai from Mangaluru are banned from entering the city for two days. Passengers should board these buses at Amabalpadi, Balaipade and Karavali Junctions. The buses coming from Mangaluru should enter the city from Karavali Junction through Bannanje.

The outgoing buses from Udupi Service and City Bus Stands should ply from Karavali Junction to the designated areas. The buses to Kundapur and Malpe from Udupi should also take the Bannanje route via Karavali Junction. Udupi to Karkala buses are banned from entering the city and passengers should board and alight at Manipal for two days.

Parking of vehicles is banned at Kinnimulki, Lions Circle, Diana Circle, Syndicate Tower, Tenkapete, K M Marg, Badagupete, Sanskrit College Junction, Chittharanjan Circle, Mithra Hospital Road, Thenkupete, LVT Thenkupete Temple Road, Harishchandra Road to Vidyodaya School, and Kalsanka to Rajaangana parking area.

Vehicle movement is banned at the Kinnimulki Welcome Arch, Govinda Kalyana Mantapa, Joduckatte Lions Circle, Diana Circle, Mithra Junction, Ideal Junction and Tenkupete Road.
