Elder Brother Arrested for Killing and Burning Body of Younger brother
Karkala: The eight-month-old case of a missing person Avil D’Souza (24) resident of Karkala Mangalpade has taken a new twist. His own elder brother had allegedly killed Avil and burnt his body in a property dispute.

The deceased’s brother, Melwin Santosh D’Souza (31), was arrested on November 17 by the Karkala police and produced before the court. The court has sentenced the accused to 14 days judicial custody.

Their father, Albert D’Souza had filed a complaint in the Karkala police station about Avil D’Souza gone missing on Good Friday. After registering the case the police started their investigation. When the police interrogated Melwin D’Souza the matter of Avil being murdered came to light.
A fight had taken place between the brothers in regard to their parent’s property on March 30 around 10:00 pm. During the fight, Melwin had allegedly stabbed Avil, assaulted him with an iron road and killed him. Investigations revealed that the body was taken to the Rama Samudra near Karkala, burnt and the evidence destroyed.
Investigation by the Karkala Police is still on in this regard.
