Elderly woman stabbed, robbed of her gold chain

Bengaluru: Unidentified assailants stabbed a 55-year-old woman and made away with her gold chain from her house near Pattegarapalya in Vijayanagar on Monday.

The victim, Lakshmi Devamma, was alone at her house when the miscreants targeted her.

According to the police, the incident happened around 1 pm when two bike-borne men wearing helmets barged into Devamma’s house and accosted her with a dagger.

They threatened to stab her if she did not give them her gold ornaments.

Shocked Devamma put up a resistance and started screaming for help. Meanwhile, one of the assailants stabbed her and snatched her gold chain and the duo fled.

Neighbours who heard Devamma’s screams rushed to her help, but by the time, the bikers had escaped, the police said.

Devamma was shifted to a hospital where she is said to be out of danger, the police
said.

“The assailants look like chain snatchers. As they could not get any victims on the road, they perhaps may have targeted Devamma who was alone in her house,” said a senior police officer.

After assessing a CCTV footage, the police also learnt that the duo on their bike was roaming in and around Pattegarapalya targeting victims for quite some time.

The Vijayanagar Police have registered a case of attempt to murder and robbery and
are on the hunt for the assailants.

Such anti-social elements, who are criminals are like cancer to society, must be ….. for good, without the lengthy trials, waste of time and money. Government laws favour the criminals. Crime can be contained only if the criminals are dealt with instantly. Imagine some Lawyers in India fighting on behalf of criminals!
