Election Commission team to visit Jharkhand from Thursday
Ranchi: An Election Commission of India (ECI) team will arrive in Ranchi on Thursday for a two-day visit to the Jharkhand capital to take stock of preparations for holding assembly elections, an official said on Wednesday.
The Election Commission team will hold meetings in this regard with the State Election Commission and state government officials.
The team will leave Ranchi on Friday.
According to sources here, the Chief Election Commissioner could visit Jharkhand after the Maharashtra and Haryana assembly polls. The poll dates in Jharkhand are likely to be announced around the Diwali festival.
The term of the current assembly expires on January 5, 2021.
Jharkhand is likely to see elections conducted in three to four phases. In 2014, the assembly polls had taken place in five phases.
