Election Promises broken by Congress, hike in SAT – Vedavyas Kamath

Mangaluru: “The congress party came to power by lying to the people, that if they win the elections and come to power they will not increase the Self assessment tax (SAT), but they have failed to keep their promises made in the manifesto during the elections”, said the president of Mangaluru city south constituency D Vedavyas Kamath in a press meet held at the BJP office here on December 23.

Addressing the mediapersons Vedavyas Kamath said, “The Congress party after coming to power in the state has forgotten the people who have voted them. The anti-people policy of the Congress is condemned by the BJP and in the coming days we are ready to protest against the congress government”.

Eye Donation

To mark the birth anniversary of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee in a special manner, members of the BJP Mangaluru city south constituency will hold an eye donation camp on December 25, at the BJP office from 10:15 am. More than 100 members including BJP leaders have voluntarily come forward to pledge for eye donation. By donating our eyes, we can bring sight to two blind people after our death. Vedavyas urged the people to come forward to pledge to donate eyes on December 25 and make India a model country in donating eyes.

Cashless system

In Dakshina Kannada, we need to give preference to the cashless system. In this context, the BJP south constituency is active in creating awareness among the people. In the coming days, we will organise workshops for auto rickshaw drivers, vegetable vendors, milk, fish sellers, small time businessmen, women and the public. All should support the cashless system to curb corruption.

Self-assessment Tax (SAT)

Addressing the mediapersons opposition leader Roopa D Bangera said, “During elections, the congress party had said that if they come to power they will not increase the tax. During the time of Christmas and new year, people get gifts but the Congress government has given a shock to the people by increasing the tax by 15%. This is the second time the congress has increased the tax which the BJP condemns. When the BJP was in power there was development work but in the congress ruling the development work has come to a standstill. On December 22, during the meeting former Mayor Sashidhar Hegde announced that from January 2017, the tax will be increased by 15%. BJP will not allow the congress to increase the tax and in the coming days, we will stage a protest.

BJP members Ravi Shanker Mijar, Brijesh Chowta, Sanjay Prabhu and others were also present.
