Employees Of SIS PROSEGUR HOLDINGS Arrested, Rs 6.3 Cr Recovered
Mangaluru: “Three persons who had fled with Rs 7.5 crore from Axis bank Yeyyadi branch have been arrested by the police at Madikeri and Rs 6.3 crore has been recovered from their possession”, said police Commissioner Chandra Sekhar in a press meet held at his office here on May 16. The arrested have been identified as Karibasappa (24), Poovanna (38) and Karyappa (46).
Addressing the Media persons Chandra Sekhar said, “On May 11, at around 8:30 am, Axis bank Yeyyadi Chief Ranjith ordered SISC PROSEGUR HOLDINGS to transport cash to their Koramangala Brach. Accordingly, Bolero driver Karibasava, Custodian of the cash Parashuram, gunmen Poovanna and Basappa collected Rs 7.5 Crore from the Yeyyadi Axis Bank Currency Chest. But they never handed over the money to the Axis Bank Koramangala Branch. A complaint was lodged in this regard and search was on for the culprits. Finally, the police succeeded in arresting all the four at Madikeri”.
Chandra Sekhar further said, “On receiving the complaint we formed special teams under the leadership of ACP Shruti. The teams searched the accused in Bengaluru, Madikeri, Mysuru and Chitradurga. During investigations, the team found the accused hiding in a remote area called Kambarakadige. Three persons have now been arrested and search is on for the other accused. Gunman Poovappa, Bhimayya, Karibasappa and Basappa are the main accused. During the investigations, the SP of Kodagu has rendered good support to our team. I would like to thank the Kodagu DCIB team Abdul Karim, Tambayya, Hameed, Venkatesh, Anil, Yogesh, Vasanth, Sashikumar, Niranjan and Saji. “
Under the able guidance of Police commissioner Chandra Sekhar, DCP Law and Order Shantharaju and DCP Crime and Traffic Dr Snajeev Patil, the operation was carried out by the ACP Shruti, ACC CCRB Valentine D’Souza, Urva Police inspector Ravish Nayak, Manaluru Rural Police Inspector Mohammed Sheriff, Bunder Police Inspector Shantharam, Pandeshwar Police Inspector Belliyappa, Kankanady Town Police Inspector Ravi Naik, Sub Inspector CCB Shyam Sundar, Rajendra Prasad, Gangadhar, Dayanand, Sheenappa, Chandrashekhar, Jabbar, Damodar, Riji, Shivaprasad and Nutan Kumar.
“The investigation is on and we are focusing on arresting all the other accused and recover the money. At present we are questioning the custodian Parashuram”, said Police commissioner Chandra Sekhar.
DCL Law and Order Shantharaju and DCP Crime and Traffic Dr Snajeev Patil were also present.
