Mangaluru : Addressing the media persons during a press meet held at Mangalore Press Club, M Venkatesh, the Managing Director of MRPL said, “As informed earlier, MRPL Refinery complex had faced below ground soil erosion due to very heavy and intense rainfall during the first and second week of August 2019 effecting the foundation of one of the pipe rack in the Phase III Refinery complex. An immediate shut down of entire phase III complex was taken as a safety measure during the third week of Aug 2019”

“On war footing all emergency measures have been taken to arrest any significant damage to pipe rack resulting in NO DAMAGE to any of the pipes laid on the pipe rack. After ensuring the safety of the pipe rack by undertaking emergency rectification works, the Phase III Refinery complex was commissioned back during the second week of September 2019 and we are happy to inform that the entire refinery complex is running normal at peak capacities since then. Due to recent attacks on Saudi Oil facilities, the crude oil supplies to MRPL has not been affected and we are able to sustain our operations normally.
Going forward we expect stable crude oil supplies from Middle East with Saudi Arabia reporting crude oil production at normal levels bringing the much needed stability in international crude oil prices and improved Gross Refining Margins” added Venkatesh.
