Entrepreneurs Muthappa Rai and Ajith Shetty Offer Rs 2.5 Crore worth Brahma Ratha to Kukke Subramanya Temple

Entrepreneurs Muthappa Rai and Ajith Shetty Offer Rs 2.5 Crore worth Brahma Ratha to Kukke Subramanya Temple

Udupi: The procession of the new chariot to Kukke Subramanya Temple donated by entrepreneurs Muttappa Rai and Ajith Shetty was flagged off at Koteshwar on Monday, September 30.

State fisheries, port, inland service and Mujrai minister and also the district minister in-charge of Dakshina Kannada along with Prathapchandra Shetty chairman legislative council, Vinay Kumar Sorake former minister, Nithyananda Muddodi president of Subramanya Temple flagged off the Brahma Ratha procession.

The Brahma Ratha is estimated to cost around Rs 2.5 crore and will be the biggest in Karnataka and is being donated by entrepreneur Muttappa Rai and Ajith Shetty to the Temple. The Brahma Ratha was carved by the National Shilpa Guru Laxminarayana Acharya of Koteshwar. The Brahma Ratha is 64.1 feet long and 18 feet in width.

In 2010 Muttappa Rai and his family had donated a Brahma Ratha to Sri Mahalingeshwara Temple, Puttur, in Dakshina Kannada district.

There was a demand for a new Brahma Ratha to Kukke Subramanya Temple and the Temple administrative committee had given a memorandum to Muttappa Rai. Muttapa Rai and his friend Ajith Rai decided to donate a 2.5 crore worth Brahma Rata to the Temple.

Before the Brahma Ratha was taken in a procession to Kukke Subramanya Temple a puja was offered to Koteshwara Sri Kotilingeshwara and Anjaneya Swami. The Brahma Ratha procession will pass through Koteshwar, Udupi, Mulki and will reach Kadri Temple on Monday, September 30 night.

On Tuesday, October 1 the procession will continue from Kadri Temple and will reach Kadaba on the same day night. On October 2 a huge vehicle procession has been organized from Kadaba to Kukke Subramanya Temple.
