A Multi Talented and Multi Faceted Malaysian Artist
“Art is life and life in an art” says Sathi Streeton a well known artist and sculpture in Abu Dhabi. She is holding a solo exhibition at the Millenium Hotel in Abu Dhabi from 5th December 2005 till 12th December 2005. This exhibition displays art in different mediums and sculptures seem to bring horses alive with the animals carved in bronze, gypsum, pottery and clay. There are some replicas of famous works by American and European artists.

Her art life began when her artwork titled ?Heart?s Aspiration? (woman playing a sitar) was chosen in an art competition three decades ago in 1973, back in her home country in Kuala Lumpur ? Malaysia. This inspired her to take up Chinese brush painting, interior designing and metal embossing. Later on in London she took up intensive lessons in sketching and water color painting.

In the past she had taken part in various exhibitions in several countries, but her first solo exhibition was held in May 1989 in Doha Qatar which had 40 water color paintings. She came to Abu Dhabi in the year 1992, and enrolled herself for oil painting, portrait painting, and sculpture courses in the cultural foundation. Art which began as a hobby now became a career. She is also an art teacher at the Special Care Center, a school for children with special needs.

She loves nature and calls herself a nature painter. I am not restricted to any school of thought she says with a smile on her face. My paintings reflect my innermost feelings and I love to paint waterfalls, birds, flowers, horses, scenery and mother and child portraits. Every person needs to leave a footprint in the sands of time, if not life is useless? says Sathi. Her aim in life is to raise money for children?s charities and welfare, through her paintings and teaching art. She intends to start a school for children between the age group of two and seven and have an art gallery of her own and help deserving children come up in life. She has a special love for children because she is a Montessori teacher with a diploma from England.
