Exit Jeans, Enter Lungi! Mukhesh Hegde’s Kannada Film ‘Lungi’ Portrays Love, Beauty & Culture
Mangaluru : Frankly speaking I am not a movie-goer nor love watching movies-and even if I do, I fall asleep within few minutes from the start of the movie. But surprisingly I went to see the Kannada Movie “Lungi” which was produced by my college friend, who was also a great cricketer at St Aloysius College, Mangaluru Mukhesh Hegde, and who had given the journos VVIP passes to watch the movie- and for a change I stayed awake and enjoyed the movie, right from the beginning till the End. No doubt, Lungi, has an interesting title and also a captivating story line. The film team confirms that the movie, produced by Mukhesh
Hegde under the banner Khara Entertainment, is a total entertainer, meant for everyone, especially the younger generation.
Producer Mukhesh Hegde, who has a few Tulu films to his credit, has once again made his way into Kannada cinema with “Lungi”. The film, which will release on October 11 at various cineplexes about 51 of them, and theatres , came to him at an opportune moment — when he was looking to back a light-hearted entertainer. Speaking to media Hegde said, “I was looking to branch out, and step into the Kannada film industry when directors Arjun Lewis and Akshith Shetty approached me. They actually came to me with a thriller, but violence is not myforte. I wanted to produce a movie which people could sit back and enjoy, while taking a break from their stressful lives. That is when they alternatively pitched Lungi to me — I loved the script of this romantic comedy and was on board.”
The team behind this film largely comprises youngsters who are starting out in the industry, but it was their passion that put Mukhesh’s faith in the movie. Mukhesh also said “The actors, including my son, Pranav Hegde, who plays the hero, the leading ladies, and the technical team — most of the members are quite young, but their talent and passion prompted me to take a chance with this movie,”. He is also thrilled at the response that Prasad K Shetty’s music has received. “It has come out really well, I have heard rave reviews for the songs we have released so far,” he shares, adding that this Khara Entertainment production will also motivate college-goers who are hoping to find their calling in their lives. “The story portrays the struggles, challenges and a sense of confusion that youngsters undergo when they try to start their careers. Youngsters will relate to this
film,” added Hegde. So all you youngsters go watch the movie “Lungi”..
