Experts from MIT Conduct survey of Accident Spots on NH to find Solution – SP Sanjeev Patil

Udupi: Superintendent of Police Dr Sanjeev M Patil said that Experts from the Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) along with the police have conducted a survey of the accident spots on the national highway to find a solution.

He was speaking to the media persons during the phone-in programme in Udupi on Saturday, November 11.

“The police personnel and MIT experts have inspected the accident spots and identified the loopholes in the road structure. The survey has been completed from Udupi to Hejamady. It will be taken up till Sasthan. The experts will submit a draft copy of the survey report, which will be submitted to the deputy commissioner,” said Dr Patil.

The superintendent also received complaints on illegal sand mining and quarries in the Kundapur taluks. The public has complained that laterite stone quarry is functioning illegally at Hosooru in Jadkal. Illegal sand mining is carried out unabated in CRZ area in Kumbhashi.

The security has been strengthened across Udupi district in the wake of BJP’s Parivarthana Yatra for two days from November 12.

He said that DAR and KSRP platoons have been deployed. “Check posts have been opened at 24 locations in the district. No untoward incidents have taken place in Udupi district during the Tipu Jayanti celebrations,” said the police officer.
