Extortion Threat – Three Youngsters Arrested
Mangaluru: Vishal Kumar (22) fro Kunjattabail, Preetam (22) from Ayyappa Bhajana Mandir locality near Akash Bhavan and Ritesh (19) from Maladi road have been arrested by the CCB police on charges of extortion.
Gowrish, who is currently in custody in connection with a murder case, had reportedly phoned a businessman from Bijai demanding Rs 25,000. Thereafter, he got his associates to pursue the matter and they had threatened to kill him if the payment was not made.
The businessman filed a complaint at the Barke police station. CCB inspector Sunil Y Naik, sub-inspector Shyamsundar and team went after the accused and arrested them.
Among the trio, Preetam already has a case registered against him in city east police station in the matter of a trespass into and rampage at a restaurant. The other two appeared to be first-time offenders, according to police sources.
The present case has been handed over to the Barke police for further action.
