After the inauguration of the Entrance, the Bishop then unveiled the two logo’s at the entrance- “Heal & Comfort”, and “Pioneer In Homoeopathy- Similia Similibus Curantur (In Latin, it means “Like (ailments) are Cured by Like”, i.e., by remedies that produce the effects of the disease itself: the principle of homeopathy). During the Blessing ceremony, the Bishop said, “While we are here for the inauguration and blessing of the New Entrance of this institution, it reminds us God’s continual blessings and His benevolence over us. With gratitude in our hearts to Almighty God for providing a magnificent entrance through which people enter every day for seeking knowledge, healing and service. We need to place our trust and confidence inn our God who is all Provider, Protector and Sustainer. With this firm hope let us place our needs to the Heavenly Father and seek his blessings”.
The Bishop then garlanded the bust of Father Augustus Muller-the Founder of FMCI located at the newly designed Fountain, followed by a prayer service. Since the Bishop is a fond lover of plants and the green environment, therefore on the occasion three saplings were planted by the Bishop, FMCI Director, and the management of FMHMC&H. In his welcome address, Administrator of FMHMC&H Fr Roshan Crasta said, “As we have built our new entrance we wish each and everyone enter and leave this portal blessed and filled with grace and inspiration of heal and comfort. “And regarding Our Lady of Lourdes is a patron of bodily ills, sick people, protection from diseases. Today as we institute our lady of Lourdes in this campus we pray for Her blessings to all those live and seek health and care in this institution and be protected from diseases, comforted from bodily illness. “Being one of the foremost institution in this area, we wanted to give a new look to it, and also add a grotto, and our dreams have materialized today. We need to compliment Fr Roshan for completing both the projects. At FMCI we work in a team without any differences between each other, and we concentrate on quality health care and good service. We give concessions to poor patients, because our mission is to serve the poor, and we will continue doing so forever. We will add more facilities as and when needed at this institution, so that the faculties and students feel comfortable without facing any inconveniences” added Fr Coelho.
Bishop Peter Paul Saldanha addressing the audience said, “Why and what is the need of a face lift? Comparing two mentalists, as per Eastern mentality, the surroundings should be wonderful; but as Western mentality, they magnify their inner looks, but care a less to outer surroundings. Here we have human ways to solve problems, but in Western countries, they use technology. When you have a good surrounding and a nice entrance, those who enter the premises will get thrilled and feel happy- and that will happen here at this institution. Your personality gets lifted when you have good surroundings”.
“Apart from good surroundings, we need to have a clean and green environment. It is necessary to keep our environment clean because we get fresh air, reduce pollution etc. Keeping our environment clean is a very important part of our lives in these days. It is important to focus on this as we have to make sure that the environment is preserved for future generations. Among many ways to keep environment clean is to plant trees, and I am happy we have planted three saplings here. Trees will help in controlling the pollution at least a little bit. Having lots of trees in your society will help you have fresh air for you and your kids, maintain good health, and with a beautiful green society you can inspire others to follow the track and save the city and environment ” added Bishop Saldanha..
Following the vote of thanks by Dr Shivaprasad K, the Principal of FMHMC&H, the audience proceeded to the inauguration and blessing of the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes, which was done by the Bishop through a short prayer, and sprinkling of Holy water on the grotto and the surroundings. The Grotto designer Walter Pinto was felicitated for his marvelous job in creating this beautiful grotto, which happens to be his 1453 grotto creations. A job well done, Walter! The vote of thanks of this ceremony was done by the comperes of the two ceremonies, Dr Sherlyn Paul and Dr Deeraj Fernandes, both faculties at FMHMC&H. Fathers and Sisters from FMCI, and also the Vice Principal of FMHMC&H Dr E S J Prabhukiran graced the celebration.
