Extreme Makeover! Renovated and Extended Casualty/ Emergency Dept and Upgraded Physiotherapy Unit Inaugurated at Fr Muller’s Hospital-Thumbay

Mangaluru: Father Muller Hospital-Thumbay affiliated to Fr Muller Institutions- Mangaluru has completed Four years of its existence in health care in this locality. For the past four years this hospital has grown as multi-specialty health care avenue which has crossed nearly 70,000 outpatients and more than 5000 In patients for the year 2016-2017. Hospital has 15,000 health card holders. Now this centre is equipped with state of art facilities with full-fledged qualified health care professionals in all the specialties. Over the years the management has responded to the changing health care needs of individual, family and community as a whole.The hospital new registration cards been launched to enhance documentation. The Hospital Casualty /Emergency Department had been extended and renovated with the strength of 12 beds for the better patient care management. The physiotherapy unit has been upgraded with additional equipment.

The inauguration of the renovated and extended Hospital Casualty/Emergency Department and also the upgraded Physiotherapy Unit was inaugurated on Tuesday, 15 August 2017 at 10 am at Fr Muller Hospital-Thumbay, by Chief guest Dr B Sanjeev Rai- CMC, FMCI, along with other dignitaries namely- Fr Richard Coelho- Director, FMCI; Fr Ajith Menezes- Administrator, FMMC; Fr Rudolph Ravi D’sa- Administrator, Fr Roshan Crasta- Administrator, FMH-Thumbay; Ms Hemalatha- President, Grama Panchayat-Thumbay; Dr Kiran Shetty- Medical superintendent- FMH-Thumbay; Praveen Thumbay- Vice President, Grama Panchayat-Thumbay, among others. After the inauguration of both the departments, Fr Richard Coelho along with other clergy conducted a short prayer session, following which he blessed the departments by sprinkling Holy Water.

During the formal stage programme, the function began with invoking God’s blessings, followed by welcome address by Fr Roshan Crasta where he said, ” I am happy to promulgate our hospital motto ‘Heal and Comfort” a template to serve the health care needs of the community. We have organized free health checkup camps in Bantwal, Belthangady and Puttur taluks, and to create health awareness various health education, seminars. Free health screening camps were organized to the students of local schools and colleges. Our primary concern is to provide quality and compassionate patient care. In order to achieve the goal, we bank on shared decision making and acceptability for improving quality care and ongoing training programs to all the staff to update with the currents.”

Fr Crasta further said, ” Our Hospital has grown from a simple General Health care to a Multi-specialty hospital with state of art facilities.The Loyalty that inspires in providing care is a strength which helps to carry on the vision. As my ministry is “love and serve the faithful after the example of Christ”, this is a great opportunity to serve the mankind with preventive and promotive health care at the door steps of the community. It is indeed a matter of joy and pride for me to be an administrator and all the tireless effort of each one you is appreciable. The dedicated team of our doctors, nurses and other hospital personnel strive to provide high-quality, affordable and personal health care that respects the needs and dignity of each person served. I am grateful to Dr Kiran Shetty-Medical Superintendent, and all the members of Father Muller Hospital-Thumbay for their dedicated service. I take this opportunity to lovingly remember our former Director late Rev. Fr Patrick Rodrigues for the vision that he had for this hospital. I also congratulate and wish all the success to our new director Rev. Fr Richard Coelho. Fr Richard Coelho addressing the gathering said, ” Today I don’t want to mention how many floors we have added or how many new equipments we have purchased, rather I would say “how much love we have put in, in the healing ministry of Lord Jesus. Our dream of Thumbay is to reach to the unreached, to love the unloved and care the uncared and to serve the marginalized and less privileged people of the society. All in all we want to give compassionate care to our suffering brothers and sisters. We need to work in unity and with harmony for the growth of this hospital, which is the child of Fr Muller Institutions. I feel proud to say that this ‘baby’ of ours have grown to greater heights with improved casualty, emergency and physiotherapy departments. To the Administrator, Medical Superintendent, Nursing and other staff , I say may God bless you all, and my prayer to all those who visit Fr Muller Hospital-Thumbay, may find peace, joy and solace”.

Dr Sanjeev Rai speaking during the occasion said, ” I am surprised to see that this hospital has grown and improved a lot. Surely this hospital is following in the footsteps of Fr Muller Institutions to reach greater heights, and ear a name and fame in this rural area. It would be nice if this hospital advances its Trauma centre, since being on a national busy highway, and frequently we see lots of accidents. I wish this hospital all success, and I am confident that Fr Roshan Crasta, as the Administrator will do a great job managing this hospital and reach it to higher standards. The Hospital newsletter “Muller @Thumbay” was released during the occasion by Fr Richard Coelho. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Kiran A Shetty, while the programme was compered by Cynthia Barboza and Avitha D’Mello from the Nursing Department.
